If we came across a chaotic mass like that, and had to talk to individual cells to communicate with it, we would probably recoil in horror and see ourselves as immeasurably superior. They would cohere very imperfectly, destroying each other at times, fighting over the same resources like bacteria or sunlight that they would need to survive, but still cluster together like we do in human society. The cells would cluster together in an equivalent to our 'societies', cohering somewhat but too formless to be called a body. This mass of cells would be as big as our body but much less cohesive. ![]() For the hive, there's probably also special parts of the hive worlds that form a sort of 'neuronal' pathway spanning the galaxy, and perhaps special 'neuronal cell' drones.įor a hive-mind to interact with 'individualist' societies would (on our scale) be like if we, human beings controlling our bodies, would suddenly (say on some alien world) have to interact with a chaotic, mostly formless mass of autonomous cells, each of which had independent thought, sized on the scale of our own body. For humans, we know it should at least be in the neuronal pathways but we don't really know why. Both in a hive-mind, an in human bodies, it is not clear how and where consciousness arises exactly. To a hive-mind, its global 'society' is the body. However, instead of saying the hive mind controls every single limb directly, let's just make the body-metaphor more straightforward. Luckily, the description given in-game of the hive controlling bodies like a mind controlling 'limbs' is some help. It's a bit hard to get your head around what a hive mind is and why it would be so alien to us. ![]() /r/Xenonion (Stellaris' Finest News Source).Twitter account of Daniel Moregard, Stellaris director.Result: Paradox is Swedish" Websites and Wikis Please use proper spoiler formatting if you are going to discuss spoiler content in non-spoiler threads: >!Paradox is Swedish!< Please mark a thread for spoilers if there's spoilers in the main post or if there's going to be open discussion of spoilers in the comments To avoid spoiling narrative surprises for others, please adhere to the following guidelines: If you want stricter quality control, go to /r/ParadoxPlaza BANNED TOPICĬontent that breaks the spirit of these rules may be removed at moderator discretion.
